 | Poznan International Fair (MTP) was held from 8 to 11 June 2010 and during this fair KOMAG Institute of Mining Technology was awarded with Gold Medal in the category "Transfer of the results of the scientific research into economic practice" for the innovative solution of “Driving car for the rail locomotive”.

The main features that prove innovative character of the solutions are as follows:
- separation of the drive for left wheels and right wheels, what in the case of hydraulic engines guarantees adjustment of rotational speed of wheels on turns without necessity of using differential mechanisms,
- assurance of gear oscillation in relation to the body to secure proper adhesion of wheels to a rail in the case of its unevenness in the vertical plane – without necessity of using separate rockers,
- installation of the efficient multi-disk brakes directly on a rotary axis of the wheel – unlike the typical braking system that uses pressing of the brake pad to the rail,
- clarity of the design.
Use of innovative braking cars in PIOMA LDS 80 locomotive as well as the locomotive design gave positive effects that resulted in its ability of overcoming the track bends. Three-member locomotive equipped with braking cars overcomes smoothly the track bends without a tendency of tossing and derailing, what can take place in the case of a locomotive of the typical design.
Locomotive with the barking cars has got the certificate of EC type testing and it meets main requirements included in the Directive No. 94/9/EC – ATEX and the requirements included in Annex No. 1 of the Directive No. 98/37/.
